These paintings are done quickly, on the spot, in direct response to the chosen subject. I am fascinated by movement, air and water, light, and seasonal subtleties. As a result of these direct studies, I will occasionally go further. For example, see the recent paintings of figure silhouettes that reflect the landscape. Folding screens and murals are another outcome of these studies.
My favorite places are the Vermont hills, the Thousand Islands on the St Lawrence River, and the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
